(1 of 1)These fish have become one of the most sought after saltwater species on the fly, Permit fishing is best from February through early April in the Keys. These fish predominately feed on blue crabs about the size of a half dollar and can be found in a school or as a single. The Permit in the keys range from 15 to 35 pounds with the largest concentration of this species being found in the lower keys, they can be spotted by there sickle fin sticking up while they are feeding. The key to catching this fish is to cast it close!!! During April and May these fish go offshore to spawn. Little is known about Permit which makes it that much more exciting when you have the chance to cast to one.
